Islam Seperti Pokok Kayu

Disampaikan oleh Syukbah Dakwah dan Pendidikan, Masjid Negeri Sabah.

Agama Islam dapat diumpamakan seperti pokok kayu.

Sepohon pokok kayu mempunyai bahagian yang tidak dapat dilihat, iaitu bahagian yang terunjam masuk ke perut bumi ( di bawah tanah ) yang dinamakan akar; ada yang besar dan panjang, ada pula yang halus seperti rambut dan pendek.

Pokok kayu itu pula mempunyai bahagian yang dapat dilihat, iaitu bahagian yang muncul menjulang ke atas permukaan bumi yang dinamakan batang, dahan, ranting dan sebagainya.

Agama Islam seperti sebatang pokok kayu kerana mempunyai 2 ajaran:

Ajaran pertama adalah mengenai kepercayaan dan keyakinan yang dinamakan dengan rukun iman. Pekerjaan otak dan fikiran semata. Banyak yang harus dipercayai oleh orang Islam tetapi yang pokok dan dasar hanyalah 6 perkara seperti yang kita ketahui dalam rukun iman.

Di samping rukun iman yang 6 perkara itu, setiap orang Islam di dalam hidupnya harus menjalankan atau melakukan 5 perkara yang dinamakan rukun Islam.

Islam seperti pokok kayu. Rukun iman sebagai urat atau akar, sedangkan rukun Islam sebagai batang, dahan dan ranting. Mudahlah kita ketahui bahawa rukun iman mempunyai kedudukan yang lebih penting dari rukun Islam.

Apabila urat atau akar kayu tidak hidup, tidak kuat, tidak terunjam jauh ke perut bumi, atau akar itu tidak mendapatkan tanah yang subur atau kurang dipupuk, maka akibatnya pokok kayu itu akan hidup merana atau mati sama sekali.

Kalaupun hidup, ia akan kelihatan tidak subur. Apabila ia berdaun atau berkembang, daunnya akan mudah berguguran bila ditiup angin sedikit sahaja. Tiada bibitnya yang akan menjadi buah. Akar kayu yang tidak kuat menyebabkan batang kayu tidak berbuah dan tidak berguna.

Begitu pulalah keadaan orang Islam yang tidak beriman, atau lemah imannya kerana tidak dipupuk atau dipelihara. Agamanya akan merana, tidak ada perhatian untuk melakukan ibadah yang dinamakan rukun Islam yang 5 perkara. Orang yang beragama Islam yang tidak melakukan ibadah, agamanya ibarat pokok kayu yang tidak berbuah.

Jadi, apabila kita dapati sekarang, ramai orang Islam yang tidak menunaikan solat, tidak berpuasa Ramadhan, tidak mengeluarkan zakat sekalipun dia orang kaya dan hartawan, tidak mengerjakan haji walaupun mampu dan berkuasa, apatah lagi kalau ada orang Islam yang rosak akhlak dan budi pekertinya, itu semua adalah kerana lenyap atau lemahnya iman di dada mereka.

Tiada usaha yang wajar dilakukan terhadap mereka, selain usaha-usaha memperkukuhkan keimanan itu iaitu usaha memupuk dan menyuburkan keimanan itu.
